All about the consent log of Consent Studio CMP

What is the consent log?

Part of the legal obligation under most privacy laws, is storing proof of when and how consent was given. In our platform jargon, we call this a consent action. We keep track of:

  • The Consent ID

  • The date and time on which the consent was given

  • An partially anonymized IP address (the last component is set to 0)

  • The URL on which the consent was given

  • The determined origin country

  • Whether the consent was logged under implicit consent mode yes or no

  • Whether the consent included consent for functional data processing

  • Whether the consent included consent for analytics data processing

  • Whether the consent included consent for marketing data processing

  • The user agent

How long are consent log records stored?

Consent Studio stores consent log records (consent actions) up to 12 months before being automatically deleted.

Can I access the consent log records?

Yes. You can search consent log records in the Consent Log panel of the Consent Studio dashboard, back to three months. If you want to access older records, you must download them as a CSV file.

Will my consent log records be kept when I delete my domain from Consent Studio?

No. They will be enqueued for permanent removal from the moment your site is deleted. Make sure that you download them before you delete your domain from our service. Deleting a domain is a permanent action that removes all associated consent log records. Always download the logs associated with the domain beforehand to maintain future compliance and documentation. If you face any issues, such as being unable to access the logs, contact support to temporarily reactivate your domain or provide alternative access.

Will I keep my consent log records when I change my domain name?

Yes.
