How to update your Consent Studio CMP tag in Google Tag Manager

Occasionally, Consent Studio CMP may update its official tag template for Google Tag Manager.

  • We will notify you through an changelog notification in-app and per e-mail.

  • Sometimes, updates are specifically targeted at a subset of our customers that use a specific feature. If you are not using said feature, it may be just fine to ignore this version update and postpone the update.

  • When we do not explicitly mention the target audience of the update, it is at all times recommended to install our latest version of any plugin - not just GTM.

Below, we will share how to update our tag.

Update Instructions

Start by targeting a specific container by opening tagmanager.google.com and selecting the container that you wish to update in the list.

When opening the target container’s workspace, you will see a notification at the top of your screen, indicating that there’s an update.

Click View to open the tag update overview.

Select Consent Studio CMP in the list by clicking to proceed. Google Tag Manager will show you the difference between the installed version and the latest release.

When you agree with our update, click the Accept Update in the top right corner. The modal will close when it has completed the operation.

It is essential that you now proceed by publishing this change in your container by clicking Submit in the top right corner of your workspace interface and completing the publication steps.
