Accessibility: banner title element
Why we recommend strong instead of h2 or h3 for your banner title
Last updated About 2 hours ago
On Consent Studio Professional, Advanced Accessibility lets you choose which HTML element your consent banner uses for its title. Go to Web CMP > Behaviour > Accessibility and use the Banner Heading Element setting. You can choose Strong (ARIA heading), which is the default, or Heading 1 to Heading 6. The Overview Heading Element setting works the same way for the title of the cookie overview. We always recommend strong.
Why not h2 or h3?
Your website's theme CSS often styles heading elements such as h2 and h3. If the banner title uses one of these elements, your theme can change how the title looks inside the banner, for example its size, color or spacing.
How strong keeps the heading structure
When the title uses strong, we add an ARIA attribute that tells screen readers the title is a level 2 heading. Visitors using assistive technology get the same heading structure, and your theme doesn't affect how the title looks.
