Upcoming changes & additions
Each change will be labeled with our assessment of their impact on clients moving from Web CMP Banner v1 to Web CMP Banner v2.
[Major Change] Only a subtle modal redesign, but with full HTML element and CSS class structure rewrite under the hood
To start with: the visual layout of the modal will remain the same. However:
You will notice a subtle difference between v1 and v2 buttons and actionable elements.
We have added rings to actions in the consent banner for better contrast.
We have added shadow-like scroll incentives at the bottom of scrollable content.
Full HTML elements rework, including class names. Class names will be shortened and use BEM structure. Moreover, we will no longer limit ourselves to one root element within the DOM: these can be multiple.
[Medium Change] Overlays will persist behind tracking technologies modal
Banner v1 featured a behaviour style where when the overlay mode is enabled, a specified overlay (combination of color + opacity) would be hidden upon switching to another modal within the Consent Studio context when a visitor would be presented with the consent banner upon first visit.
Banner v2 will persist the overlay behind each modal that is shown when the banner is presented to first-time visitors.
3. [Addition] Client-side storage of Consent Action timestamps
When a consent preference is stamped by the Consent Studio Consent Log for the respective domain, apart from just the Consent ID, also the Timestamp will be shared with the browser of the visitor. This will enable JS API access.
This addition is also applied to Web CMP Banner v1. The JS API has already been updated as well.
4. [Addition] Consent Action information card added below preferences modal
As per this feedback shared by our customers, we will offer a new card as part of the banner screen that features the current consent state - given that the user has already consented.
The Consent ID can be easily copied from here. The categories that have been consented to will be listed, as well as the timestamp.
All labels are translatable.

5. [Addition] Counts added to vendor dropdowns in tracking technologies overview modal
We will now for each vendor and vendor platform display how many tracking technologies were present.

[Addition] Consent Studio will start supporting IAB TCF
No words needed. Note that we do not guarantee that the addition of IAB TCF will be covered by our existing plans offering.
[Addition] Headless Mode
Design and code your own consent banner, in order to create a seamless experience for your visitors, by levering the Headless variant of our consent banner.
See our progress in action
The Web CMP Banner v2 already has stable versions that we will be testing on our own website.
What will stay the same
We are working on keeping all core functionalities of the consent banner the same - the JS SDK, the dataLayer events, the integrations offering, the layout, digital accessibility, localisation features, behaviour settings, styling settings and everything else unless covered above as a change or addition.
How to upgrade
Upgrading to Consent Banner Web CMP Banner v2 will not be automatic due to possible breaking changes on existing customersβ websites.
For existing customers, using Banner v2 will be opt-in for the time being when Banner v2 becomes generally available to all customers.
Starting general availability, Banner v2 will be the default for all new customers.
New customers with Banner v2 will not be able to switch to Banner v1.
