Add a privacy policy URL to your banner

Set a privacy policy URL for each language of your consent banner

Last updated 3 days ago

Your consent banner can link to your privacy policy. You add this link under Translations, once for each language you activated for your banner.

Why add a privacy policy URL

When one of your activated languages has no privacy policy URL, Consent Studio Monitoring shows the suggestion Configure privacy policy URL: "One or more activated languages are missing a privacy policy URL." Monitoring only shows this suggestion for domains that were added to Consent Studio at least 21 days ago.

Add the URL

  1. In the top bar, open Web CMP and click Translations, under Localisation.

  2. In the Language field, select the language you want to edit.

  3. Open the Banner section.

  4. Under Footer, enter the address of your privacy policy in the Privacy Policy URL field. Use a full URL, such as https://example.com/privacy, or a path on your own website that starts with /, such as /privacy.

  5. Save your changes.

  6. Repeat these steps for every other activated language.

Each activated language has its own Privacy Policy URL field. If you have one privacy policy for all languages, enter the same URL for each language.

If you write your own Footer text, wrap the words that should link to your privacy policy in [link][/link] tags.

After you save

Monitoring checks your privacy policy URLs in every scan while the suggestion is active. Once every activated language has a privacy policy URL, the suggestion closes by itself after the next completed scan.
